Pot magnets
Basic description: Pot magnets have only one active magnetic surface, while other faces are non-magnetic or magnetically very weak. This way the magnetic field influence is limited and using pot magnets it is possible to avoid magnetizing surrounding objects (except the types with SmCo and NdFeB magnetic core in brass housing). Flat pot magnets are manufactured with ferrite (ceramic) or rare-earth (NdFeB or SmCo) magnets. Cylindrical pot magnets can made with AlNiCo, SmCo or NdFeB magnetic core.

Application: Pot magnets can be inserted into different instruments, machines, tools. Can be used as auxilliary instruments during transport, clamping, mounting, lifting, welding, separation, etc. The best holding force is reached at full contact of magnetic face with ground ferromagnetic surface, force is vertical to the base (air gap = 0 mm). Small cracks on the magnet or steel pot do not have any influence to the functionality, lifetime and holding force of the pot magnet.
Holding force: All values of the holding forces listed in the following tables are meant as the lowest values reachable at room temperature (vertical pull, full contact of magnetic face with ground ferromagnetic surface of thickness at least 10 mm). If the surface is dirty or deformed, air gaps are forming and the holding force is lower. It is very important to check and keep the surface clear. Described pot magnets have unlimited lifetime - their holding force does not decrease with time. The holding force can be decreased only by excessively high temperature, or external magnetic field (except of SmCo and NdFeB). Diffenrent types of materials have different magnetic conductivity, what affects the holding force - the more additives are in steel, the worse is magnetic conductivity. The rough surface also reduces the holding force of pot magnets.
Working temperatures: All flat and cylindrical pot magnets are long-term functional at maximum working temperatures, which are stated at each table. Despite of this fact, holding force loss can happen from 15% to 40%, but this effect is reversible and does not effect progressive holding force loss.
