Thin foil, usually green color, used to show the shape of magnetic field of magnets which have unknown magnetization pattern or its pattern is complicated. When this viewer is placed on a magnet, it shows the magnetic poles as dark areas, while borders between poles are bright. Magnetic field viewer is able to show only the magnetic field pattern, but cannot identify the magnetic poles.
